The Combat Paper Project is a national artist collective and a series of ongoing workshops and exhibitions for veterans who are coping with the gravity of being survivors of war. The workshops offer a transformative experience where veterans go through the slow process of breaking down their service uniforms into fiber pulp and then reforming them into sheets of handmade paper, paper sculpture, and prints that express their wartime experience. While the collective was at the Firehouse Gallery, they occupied the main floor of the gallery space, turning it into a living breathing papermaking studio where they threw open the doors and invited the public in to witness and participate in the discourse.
