Dance | Draw was the premier exhibition during the Institute of Contemporary Art’s 75th Anniversary. It assembled the work of nearly forty artists in an attempt to explore the multi-layered relationship and dynamic exchange happening between contemporary dance and the visual arts. Contemporary art museums often produce exhibitions that are conceptually challenging for the public, and Dance | Draw was no different. Without the rights to alter the original artwork, I chose to juxtapose two provocative pieces from the show in order to pique the viewers’ interest in performance, gesture, and the drawn line enough to make them want to experience the exhibition firsthand.
